I didn't see this mixtape coming, but I knew those good white folk at Def Jam weren't going to allow Nas to call his new album "Nigger". Al Sharpton can run all over God's creation and claim that his protest help put this idea to a cease, but that's him making his supporters feel secure. Nas is a top notch artist, but these people done put top notch money behind dude and their not going to see him fuck it up with "nigger music" so to speak.

I fucks with Team Invasion (whut up!), but I've been waiting for Green to come back for a minute. Son didn't leave Hip Hop, but without him, Harry and the like, in the East its been like the ghost of mixtapes past. Can I get some creativity with all them recycled tracks niggas been pushing? I know it ain't no money in it anymore Green, but damn, can you help some of these artists come up off these mediocre attempts at promotion?

I'm gonna bust my nut early. "The Nigga Tape" is the hottest mixtape to drop in '08. All the intricacies that we've come to expect from a Green mixtape are present. The way he used excerpts from Ren (N.W.A), Paul Mooney, and Dave Chappelle was hours of work. I understand why Green would feel like there's no money it. When you put up this kind of effort, there's no way in hell what dudes are paying per unit is ample compensation. I liked the Jay Z sample for "Cops Keep Firing", but I preferred the beat to "Gangsta Rap (Rmx)". "Hero" is another type of sound from Nas, but it wasn't lacking in the least. Polo made a name for himself with "pop production", fore without Nas', this "Hero" would have been another sappy affair. As usual, Nas lyrics change my perception of the song. The "Ghetto (Rmx) featuring Joell Ortiz was hash (yes, niggas still smoke that), some of that shit Diggz gave me at the mixtape awards, mixed with that piffery from Harlem. I know a lot of dudes on the Rapmullet message board couldn't fuck with it, but my favorite track was "Black President" produced by Green and performed by Nas. I listened to this shit like pussy was crawling out the speakers. Music is supposed to do more than just give a nigga something to bounce to. It's supposed to inspire. If this is indeed "nigga music", you should want to be a nigga too.
