August 2008 Archives

What the fuck is a "blend" cd? That's what 16-year-old kids must say these days. I blame the DJs and I blame the parents for not being blend mixtape fans and passing it on to their seeds. Ok it's just the parents fault. See as a parent myself you have to lead the little ones to the promise land. My daughter knows a few things when it comes to music as I constantly bump Summer Breeze Slow Jams 1 & 2 in my ride. She actually requests them now. And I throw in my DJ Rondevu blend collection in between. She like the "knights on the round table"... (Knights of the Round Table) as she calls it. So to ride with the title of this mixtape...be kind parents and rewind the classics for your little ones. The music and blend mixtapes thank you in advance.
I like Pineapple. Shit is a really really good fruit. I say that in the most heterosexual way possible. I like Haze. Shit is a really really good high. I say that in the most non-burn-out way possible. Where was I? Oh yea...mixtape. My bad, it's that potent product. *(insert sound of taking a really big drag off a blunt)...*(insert cough)...*(insert cough).

The most consistent mixtape DJ of 2008 so far and you don't get to hear how many live parties he does too. The epitome of a successful DJ...pay homage people. Term is def carrying the torch. So is Joell, although he's had some bumps in the road along the way. Consistently good music wins every time. It's that same shit I've been preaching to you since 2003.
FABOLOUS & STREET FAM teams up with DJ ON POINT to bring you the first full length mixtape from FRECK BILLIONARE aka WEST PHILLY FRECK  "THE RICH YUNG REPORT". This Mixtape is Narrated by Fabolous & DJ ON POINT. FAB also appears on a couple records Other notable features include AKON, BG, COREY GUNZ as well as fellow STREET FAM members RED CAFE & PAUL CAIN. This is definately a cd you need to check out.

I know some people hit me up wanting to know when I was gonna review this CD. I really wanted to wait till the CD sort of ran its course and then just kind of reflected on it. Overall, when you add in the "buzz factor" that this project had and the promotional impact the music had on the internet especially you can def say this is a classic mixtape in that respect. The build up through the release of the CD was "crazy". I don't think anyone can deny that or disagree with it. Look for this CD to float around the internet for many many years to come.

Wack mixtape DJs go hide in the corner, stick your thumb in your butt. You may move more units and your "name" might be more well known by the "crack" heads who cop your product but you, me and Rhude know who is really doing their thing when it comes to true school mixtapes. Admit it, you're really a fan. Its ok, Rhude knows this. It's why he's a leader and not a mindless follower like....you.

A big shout out to everyone that was involved in the project. From all the MCs who submitted muzik to PDA on the cover to RazeOne on the mix and Illroots for the sponsor. It is appreciated people and it's also good to see a "community" come together on some non-homo shit and be all about the musik. I'm not going to give the project a tape rating for obvious reasons but I will try to break down each track for the MCs and give Raze One some feedback as I haven't gotten to review one of his projects yet.
