DJ Chong Wizard & DJ Filthy Rich - Be Kind Rewind

What the
fuck is a "blend" cd? That's what 16-year-old kids must say these days.
I blame the DJs and I blame the parents for not being blend mixtape
fans and passing it on to their seeds. Ok it's just the parents fault.
See as a parent myself you have to lead the little ones to the promise
land. My daughter knows a few things when it comes to music as I
constantly bump Summer Breeze Slow Jams 1 & 2 in my ride. She
actually requests them now. And I throw in my DJ Rondevu blend
collection in between. She like the "knights on the round table"...
(Knights of the Round Table) as she calls it. So to ride with the title
of this mixtape...be kind parents and rewind the classics for your little
ones. The music and blend mixtapes thank you in advance.
I just saw the movie that this project borrows from and I was diggin'
it. Props to these DJs for going back to movie theme mixtapes. "I
Really Mean It" is that shit. I really only can hear Jay on certain
beats and this one if proper. "Live By The Gun" got Rhymfest sounding
like he gangsta for real. It's funny what a beat will do to set the
tone of a song. Credit that to the DJ. While we talking about setting a
tone, peep AZ laid back on "Boss' Life". Only Chong Wizard would go to
the crates and dig up the Bush Babees for "Memory Lane". Matter of fact
peep the next few tracks: You got the Bush Babees, Willie The Kid,
Super Lover Cee, Mac Dre and Slick Rick. How fly is that? Man, you
don't get mixtapes like this and these are blends too.
On the Filthy Rich side of things, "Metal Thangz" is the wheel. I love
DMX's raw energy on a track regardless if he's a barely functioning
crack head. Who said beats don't make the blends? Shit, listen to Queen
Latifah on "Black hand Side" and tell me that beat doesn't snap your
neck again. I haven't heard Nine in years man. Biggie doesn't sound
half bad over that beat on "Whucha Want" either. I like how he flipped
the hook especially. Filthy Rich got busy with Pun on "Dream
Shatterer", Kool G. Rap on "On The Run" and Nas on "It Ain't Hard To
Tell". That was his classic part right there. The surprise blend was 2
Pac over "Gangsta's Paradise". I hate the song by Coolio, mad wiggers
around my way used to bump this song when it dropped so it ruined it
for me but Pac sounds decent.
You know why this project is bangin'? Cause although the concept is
very loose and it's really just a collection of dope blends it's still
a perfect fit. Just like in the movie, how they re-made (sweded)
different movies in their own way that's exactly what Chong Wizard and
Filthy Rich do on this mixtape. It's so basic that's its genius. *(pays
homage).
