Probably the best concept on an artist mixtape so far this year, as short as it's been. Straight off the Red and Meth tour Term drops a jewel...literally...in this mixtape. I don't claim to be the biggest J Dilla fan but he had his moments. Thing is after listening to this a few times Termanology sounds fly as hell over his production so I'm probably even more of a fan of his sound now. Def a dope way to make a tribute to the mans work.
"Circulate (100Bars)". See I left the track by itself it's that dope. You could throw every cliché saying at this track too. I'll just say it was pure spoon over the candle music. Break down the lyrics if you get a chance and if you're not a fan after that shoot yourself in the foot and put on a tight ass sneaker. He got ill posse tracks too. "Say It" got Sheek Louch, Joell Ortiz, Bun B, Saigon and Freeway bending bars. Do I have to say more? I could but I don't think you're that dumb... maybe tho. I like "Pay Jay" with Big Pooh, Chaundon and Joe Scudda better for some reason. Maybe it was the beat but every MCs verse spoke to me on this one. The track cats will sleep on is "Movie Clip" with Chi King but if you peep the story telling you'll be open. Snuk and Ea$y Money get their shit off on "She Wants A Superstar". Don't Zzzz on Ea$y Money either, he'll ear your food lyrically.
It's lyrical, it's some real MIC skills, it's some real life advice in the music too. And it's over J Dilla's production as a tribute. As stated previously, a dope ass concept for an artist mixtape. Honestly, the only thing that I heard holding this back from classic status was the fact it was put together like a pause tape. Could a DJ have highlighted the shit and brought that much more out of it with a proper mix and skills? I think so.
